Job Description:

Job duties include: 

Investigate wage claims of terminated employees who have not received final 
payment of their wages, and enforce employer/agency compliance. 

Investigate establishments to determine extent of violations of Minnesota's Fair 
Labor Standards Act laws and identify suspected cases of violations of the 
applicable laws. 

Perform "Officer of the Day" responsibilities including consultation, information and 
guidance to the public by phone, letter and email so that they understand their rights 
and obligations. 

Enforce compliance using formal and informal investigation techniques so that non-
complying employers and agencies are brought into compliance with Minnesota law. 

Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:	 	Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, 
Arts, Science, Accounting, Public Policy, Political Science or a related field. 
Paralegal degree will also be considered. 

Demonstrated analytical skills and abilities sufficient to research information and 
relate it to statutes and rules. 

Demonstrated ability to apply facts to a law and present findings in a clear and 
concise manner. 

Experience working with and ability to understand payroll records and preparation of 
statements of the information. 

Experience with mathematical computations and/or auditing payroll records. 

Demonstration of good verbal and written communications and listening skills 
sufficient to deal with persistent callers, difficult situations, and the ability to 
research and relay accurate and appropriate information to staff and clientele.
